Islamia Girls Senior Secondary School, Malerkotla affiliated to the Board of School Education in Punjab came into being in March, 1968 with pious and collective efforts of late Maulana Manzoor Ahmed (a renowned Islamic scholar and visionary educationist) and his associates to meet the educational needs of Muslim girls with caring and secure Islamic environment.
The school started in the present location commonly known as “Tabri Wala School” with only 4 rooms with a corridor built with mud material. In course of time the condition of building dilapidated. In November 1991 Punjab Wakf Board took over the management of the school when there were 200 students and 9 teaching staff. The first step from the Board was to recruiting trained teachers and further develop the infrastructure. 14 classrooms were constructed in 1996 with a grant of Rs. 33, 67,000.00 from Maulana Azad Foundation, New Delhi. Further class rooms, composite science lab, computer Lab were constructed and equipped, with the help of the Board. The progressive endeavor got great attraction of public and strength of the students dramatically increased to about 1000. The school got affiliation from P.S.E.B; Mohali in the year 1998-99 up to secondary classes which was further extended to senior secondary classes in 2004-05.
We also run a fully equipped Wakf Tailoring Center for girls which was sponsored by the Board.
The schools new block inaugurated on March 9, 2019 is fully furnished with well-equipped Science labs for Physics, Chemistry and Biology with additional rooms to accommodate Commerce students for which the school has got affiliation from P.S.E.B; Mohali, w.e.f. session 2019-20. The centre of attraction of this block is the Auditorium-cum-Conference AC Hall with a capacity of about 200 chairs.
